What Is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is the most widely used placeholder text in the world. It has been the printing and typesetting industry's standard dummy text since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. The text is derived from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of Cicero's "De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil), written in 45 BC.

In Adobe XD, use Edit > Paste Lorem Ipsum. Alternatives to Lorem Ipsum

While Lorem Ipsum is the standard, some designers prefer alternatives that better represent the target content. For more serious projects, some teams use actual draft content or content templates that match the expected final copy length and style. However, Lorem Ipsum remains the professional standard for a reason — its neutrality.

Common Variations

The classic Lorem Ipsum text has been modified and expanded over the centuries. The original Cicero text was about pleasure and pain — philosophical content that has nothing to do with its modern usage as filler.
