How to add a watermark to a PDF

Watermark a PDF or put a watermark on a PDF with text or a logo. Set opacity, rotation, tiling, position and page range, then download. The mark is drawn into the file as real PDF content.

  1. Upload your PDF. Drop a file onto the page, or choose one from your device. It stays on your computer.
  2. Add a text or image watermark. Type watermark text or upload a PNG, JPG or WEBP logo.
  3. Adjust opacity, position and pages. Set opacity, rotation, tiling, position and which pages receive the watermark.
  4. Download. Choose Add watermark and save the finished PDF.

Watermark questions

How do I add a watermark to a PDF?

Upload the PDF, type your watermark text or upload a logo, drag it into place on the preview, set the opacity and rotation, then choose Add watermark.

Can I use an image or logo as a watermark?

Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG or WEBP image. Transparent PNG logos keep their transparency in the finished PDF.

Can smartsignify remove an existing watermark?

No. This tool adds watermarks to a PDF. It does not remove watermarks that are already in a file.

Are my files uploaded when I add a watermark?

No. Watermarking runs entirely in your browser, so your PDF never leaves your device.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Choose Page range and enter pages such as 1-3,5,7-10.
